Describe the problem, pick your state, and get a repair request letter you can copy, print and send by certified mail.
How this tool works: method and sources
- Your inputs are used only in your browser to write the letter; nothing is sent to us.
- If your state has a verified repair-and-deduct or rent withholding or escrow statute, the letter cites it in one sentence. If we have not verified your state, the letter makes a general reservation of rights and tells you so.
- Always send the letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, and keep a copy and your mailing receipt.
- The state data in this tool was researched from primary sources (state codes and attorney general guides) and checked November 2026. Each result links the statute it uses. If a rule is marked not verified, the tool shows no number for it.
